[SAFETY TIPS AND CUTTING RULES]
- Seek administrators’ approval for use.
- Prepare your work piece to the size of 24” x 12” (600mm x 300mm).
- Refer to the cutting manual for appropriate engraving and cutting Power and Speed settings for varied materials.
- Beware of FLAMMABLE materials while using the machines.
Certain materials are NOT ALLOWED in the laser cutter; including:- Foam core
- Any PCV material
- Reflective materials
- Clean lenses with alcohol and swab before and after each use.
- Before cutting make sure the air compressor and the air filter are on.
- NEVER LEAVE THE LASER CUTTER when it is on.
- Clean up! Users are responsible for clean up after themselves; failure to which may result in loss of FABLAB Privileges.
Tip #1 : The laser cutter will generally not cut anything greater than 0.25” (6mm), anything thicker will require several passes.
Tip #2 : To engrave glass, put a masking on top before engraving.
Tip #3 : Turn off the laser cutter after every 4 to 5 projects ( for the laser to recharge.)
Tip #4 : ALWAYS make sure the lines are hairline for vector cutting.
